Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to the 2015-2016 School Year!
As the principal of Independence High School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back to another great year. Here at Independence, our excellent teachers spend hours planning and creating lessons that engage our students in their learning. We strive to challenge each student to grow in his or her academic abilities and to be college-ready by the end of four years. Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 11, 2015 and we will be on a regular bell schedule.
On the bottom of this webpage, please find the school picture form. You must bring this on the day of ID/Schedule pickups (see the dates to the left). Please visit our school’s website http://ihs.schoolloop.com to find the most up-to-date information including our important forms, school calendar, important phone numbers, and email addresses for all of our teachers. Additionally, we have a Twitter account @IndependenceHS and a Remind.com account (to receive messages via text, text @remindihs to 81010) that we will use to send out updates and quick announcements as we go through the school year. If you do not have access to the internet or would like a hard copy of information, please come to the school’s Administration Building in N, open during the summer Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
I am honored to serve as the principal of Independence High School. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth. Special Note About Schedules
Your start time is not guaranteed
Tuesday, August 11, 2015 is the First Day of School! We will be on the regular bell schedule. Students should report to their first class.
If you have a FIRST PERIOD start time, class starts at 7:20 a.m. and your school day ends at 2:05 p.m.
If you have a SECOND period start time, class starts at 8:20 a.m and your school day ends at 3:05 p.m.
If you are lost, find a Link Crew Leader, refer to the school map, or ask a teacher!
Procedure for Schedule Changes:
Changes will be made for the following reasons only:
1. If you have two classes in the same period
2. An open period--no class scheduled/missing a class--between periods 1-6 or 2-7
3. You have already passed the class during the summer
NO Changes for the following reasons:
1. You want a different teacher
2. You want to change a class period
3. The AP class is too difficult for you
4. You no longer want the class you signed up for

Seniors (12th Grade): Thursday, August 6, 2015, 12:30—2:30 p.m.
Make-Up Day (All Grades): Friday, August 7, 2015 9:30—11:00 a.m.
